Drake Is Teaming With Netflix To Revive British Series ‘Top Boy’

Fans of good television should be excited, as the London Channel 4 series Top Boy is being revived. Surprisingly, it’s entertainment superstar Drake, who’s bringing the series to Netflix, that’s behind this. He made the announcement on his Instagram page with the caption “COMING SOON”.

In a Drake cover story in The Hollywood Reporter, which is very much worth a read regardless of this news, it was revealed how much the Toronto native loves the show and his importance in getting the series to return after its hiatus after the second season ended in 2013.

Top Boy is about the drug and gang culture in east London—you can think of it as a British version of HBO’s The Wire. While it’s difficult to live up to The Wire, it’s the natural comparision and is quite the get for Netflix.

And with Drake buying the rights to it, given his passion for the show combined with his legendary work ethic, you can bet he’ll do everything in his power to make sure Top Boy’s revival an excellent and realistic one that fans love.

Top Boy is expected to be available on Netflix in 2019, with Drake working as an executive producer.
