2017 Heisman Watch (Week 10)

1. Saquon Barkley | Penn State RB | Junior | Last week: 1

Barkley’s team has lost two straight games, and he didn’t score in the most-recent loss to Michigan State, but he still belongs in the top spot in the Heisman race. He’s eighth in the Big Ten in receiving and third in rushing, while he continues to make plays despite teams trying to take him away every single week.

Season stats:

152 ATT | 864 YDS | 5.7 AVG | 9 TD

39 REC | 504 YDS | 12.9 AVG | 3 TD

13 RET | 393 YDS | 30.2 AVG | 2 TD

100% | 16 YDS | 1 PASS TD

2. Baker Mayfield | Oklahoma QB | Senior | Last week: 2

After Mayfield had his best Bedlam performance yet, totaling nearly 600 yards with six touchdowns while his team put up 62 points, many immediately gave him the Heisman. If you want to say he’s now the favorite, I totally get that. But the Heisman is in no way locked up. A trip to New York for the ceremony? Mayfield will certainly be there.

Season stats:

71.7% | 3,226 YDS | 28 TD | 5 INT

62 ATT | 181 YDS | 2.9 AVG | 5 TD

3. J.T. Barrett | Ohio State QB | Senior | Last week: 3

One week after having one of the best games of his career, J.T. Barrett surprisingly tosses four interceptions against Iowa, as he was down and probably trying to do too much to bring his team back. Barrett still has monster numbers on the season, and he’s definitely in the mix to be near the top of the Heisman voting.

Season stats:

67.5% | 2,374 YDS | 28 TD | 5 INT

101 ATT | 517 YDS | 5.1 AVG | 5 TD

4. Lamar Jackson | Louisville QB | Junior | Last week: 4

At 5-4, a bye hopefully got Jackson and his squad to re-group before they face Virginia this Saturday. Jackson already has 32 touchdowns this season, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see him hit around 45 total scores by the time his season is over.

Season stats:

60.4% | 2,808 YDS | 18 TD | 6 INT

163 ATT | 1,029 YDS | 6.3 AVG | 14 TD

5. Bryce Love | Stanford RB | Junior | Last week: 5

Love’s return from an ankle injury went pretty well, as he made a difference with an early 52-yard touchdown run against Washington State. Stanford fell short, but Love is still putting up crazy numbers this season, and he has a real shot at 2,000 yards on the year.

Season stats:

151 ATT | 1,456 YDS | 9.6 AVG | 12 TD

4 REC | 19 YDS | 4.8 AVG
