Heisman Watch (Week 12)

1. Lamar Jackson | Louisville QB | Sophomore | Last week: (1)

Jackson dominated yet again last week, as Louisville defeated Boston College 52-7. The superstar quarterback had 7 total touchdowns in the game, and surpassed 1,000 rushing yards for the season with 185 yards on the ground. Jackson has 1,181 rushing yards this season. Jackson has three games left. Jackson is a quarterback.

Season stats:
59.0% | 2,753 YDS | 26 TD | 6 INT
162 ATT | 1,181 YDS | 6.8 AVG | 19 TD

2. Deshaun Watson | Clemson QB | Junior | Last week: (2)

Watson didn’t have to do much last week as Clemson handled Syracuse at home. The Tigers quarterback needs a collapse from Lamar Jackson and Louisville to claim the Heisman trophy.

Season stats:
64.4% | 2,497 YDS | 24 TD | 10 INT
95ATT | 370 YDS | 3.8 AVG | 2 TD

3. Jabrill Peppers | Michigan LB/DB | Junior | Last week: (3)

There aren’t many great college football games this weekend, but Michigan plays in primetime on Saturday (8:00 PM ET on ABC). It should be fun to tune into that game just to watch Peppers… and maybe they’ll finally have a Jim Harbaugh iso-cam.

Season stats:
49 TACKLES (33 SOLO) | 3.5 SACKS
17 ATT / 150 YDS / 3 TD | 2 REC / 3 YDS
7 KR / 182 YDS | 15 PR / 257 YDS / 1 TD

4. Jake Browning | Washington QB | Sophomore | Last week: (4)

All Browning did last week against Cal was throw for 378 yards and 6 touchdowns. It’s a shame the quarterback is putting up insane numbers the same time as Lamar Jackson dominates the landscape of college football, but if he keeps it up, Browning will be a finalist for sure.

Season stats:
67.7% | 2,273 YDS | 34 TD | 3 INT
41 ATT | 77 YDS | 1.9 AVG | 4 TD

5. J.T. Barrett | Ohio State QB | Junior (RS) | Last week: (5)

The Buckeyes followed up two poor performances (including the loss to Penn State two weeks ago) with a dismantling of then #9 Nebraska, winning 62-3. Barrett continues to show he’s one of the best players in the country.

Season stats:
64.5% | 1,965 YDS | 21 TD | 4 INT
129 ATT | 570 YDS | 4.4 AVG | 6 TD

Other candidates:

Baker Mayfield | Oklahoma QB | Junior

Donnel Pumphrey | San Diego State RB | Senior

Christian McCaffrey | Stanford RB | Junior
