Strengths

Extremely long with top-end athleticism. Has all the tools to develop into a superstar pass rusher. Excellent closing burst. Consistently sets the edge against the run. Punches the ball out when making the tackle. Good pursuit. Has tremendous range when asked to drop back in coverage. Showed the ability to defend the slot. Elite speed to chase down almost any ball-carrier. Knows how to use his length to his advantage. Scary all-around presence for opponents.

Weaknesses

Needs to develop a pass-rushing arsenal. Could struggle to get away from stronger offensive linemen. Form as a one-on-one tackler needs improvement.

NFL Comparisons

Jason Taylor – Leonard Floyd – Dion Jordon

Conclusion

Carter is one of my favorite players in the 2018 NFL Draft, as he has sky-high upside with great athleticism in a long, rangy frame. Not only does he show great potential against the run and as a pass-rusher, but he is also versatile enough drop back in coverage.
