Brice Butler | Cardinals WR

Brice Butler is signing with the Cardinals, according to James Jones.

The former NFL receiver Jones breaks yet another free agent signing, and he says Butler's deal with Arizona is a two-year deal. Ahead of free agency, Butler said he wanted to go somewhere that he would start, and he'll have at least a good opportunity to become one of the top options behind Larry Fitzgerald for the Cardinals. Butler scored three touchdowns in 2017 and seemed to make plays whenever his number was called. He brings a major size/speed element to the Cardinals, and despite not hitting 22 receptions or 318 yards in his five seasons in Oakland and Dallas, Butler will have some upside if he has a large role for the Cardinals in 2018.

Brice Butler | Cardinals WR

Brice Butler says he wants to be a starter in 2018.

Butler is set to be a free agent this offseason, but he said on FOX Sports that he will only return to Dallas on one condition: that he be a starter next season. Butler said he's not going back if he's not starting, so this is basically in the Cowboys' court now. This season, Butler seemingly made plays whenever he was given opportunities, so it's difficult to blame him for wanting a starting role. He averaged 21.1 yards per reception and caught three touchdowns on 15 receptions, so teams are likely to be interested in bringing Butler in if he parts ways with the Cowboys. It'll be interesting to see how teams value Butler in free agency.

Brice Butler | Cardinals WR

Brice Butler scores in Cowboys' win.

Butler was the most productive receiver for the Cowboys against the Eagles, scoring the only touchdown in their 6-0 win. He was targeted twice, catching both targets for 50 yards and a touchdown. The big receiver seemingly made plays whenever given opportunities this season, and it's possible the Cowboys give him a role increase next season if they part ways with Dez Bryant. As of now, Butler isn't a fantasy option for 2018, though.

Brice Butler | Cardinals WR

Brice Butler (foot) has been downgraded to out for tomorrow night.

Butler wasn't a fantasy option in standard-sized leagues, but his big-play presence on the outside will be missed by the Cowboys.

Brice Butler | Cardinals WR

Brice Butler did not catch a pass in Week 13.

The big and athletic receiver had only one target against the Redskins. His role simply isn't big enough to be trusted in fantasy lineups.

Brice Butler | Cardinals WR

Brice Butler catches one pass against the Chargers.

The big receiver gained five yards on his lone reception. He'll make some big plays for the Cowboys, but he's not a reliable fantasy option right now.

Brice Butler | Cardinals WR

Brice Butler caught two passes for 19 yards in Sunday's loss to the Eagles.

Butler always seems to flash, but isn't on the field enough to be a fantasy option. We'll see if he can make some plays against the Chargers on Thanksgiving.

Brice Butler | Cardinals WR

Brice Butler catches 30-yard pass in Week 10 loss.

It was Butler's only reception of the game, and his 10th of the season, though he is averaging an eye-popping 24.3 yards per catch. Butler will try to get deep against Philly in Week 11, but he's not a recommended fantasy option.

Brice Butler | Cardinals WR

Brice Butler caught two passes for 57 yards in Sunday's loss to Green Bay.

The highlight came early in the game with a 49-yard jump ball that it looked like he might be able to run and score after, but he only had an eight-yard reception after that. Butler is a good fourth receiver, but he's not a reliable fantasy option with everyone healthy for Dallas. The team has a bye in Week 6.

Brice Butler | Cardinals WR

Brice Butler scores for second-straight week.

Butler caught two passes for 12 yards and a touchdown against the Rams, and he really seems to be emerging as a real threat for Dallas. On the touchdown, Butler was running a route in the end zone and saw Dak Prescott scrambling to his left, so he broke off the route—that was initially going to the right—and made himself available for Prescott in the end zone. Perhaps it was a designed route for Butler to break it off like that, but either way its as a nice play. He now has a touchdown two weeks in a row and is someone to keep an eye on, but he's not a recommended fantasy option right now.

Brice Butler | Cardinals WR

Brice Butler makes two huge catches in win over the Cardinals.

The big receiver had two long receptions—one of 37 yards and one of 53 yards (a touchdown) in the game, bringing his total to two receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown. As he has in each game this season, he made a great play on a go route down the field, and against the Cardinals his best catch came on a jump ball in the end zone. While he's making a great impact for the Cowboys, Butler should not be trusted in fantasy lineups right now.

Brice Butler | Cardinals WR

Brice Butler catches one pass in Week 2.

Butler had an 18-yarder against Denver, making it his second straight week with a big catch. Butler is more of a help for the Cowboys than he will be for your fantasy team right now.

Brice Butler | Cardinals WR

Brice Butler makes diving catch in Week 1.

The big Cowboys receiver had a great catch early in the game where he laid out for a 30-yard deep ball from Dak Prescott. It was his only reception of the game (on three targets) but it showed Butler's potential. Still, he's not a fantasy option at the moment.

Brice Butler | Cardinals WR

Brice Butler catches two passes for 28 yards in Cowboys' third preseason game.

Butler will be a contributor to the Cowboys this season, but the talented receiver likely won't deliver consistent fantasy value and probably should not be drafted in fantasy leagues.

Brice Butler | Cardinals WR

Brice Butler catches two long passes as Cowboys win Hall of Fame Game.

Butler had two receptions for 78 yards, including a catch where he laid out and hauled it in. Butler will be a contributor on the outside this season for the Cowboys as the primary backup to both Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams, while also rotating in on offense with them.

Brice Butler | Cardinals WR

Brie Butler re-signed with the Cowboys on a one-year deal.

Butler is a physical receiver at 6'3" and 220 pounds. He might get more playing time across from Dez Bryant, with Terrance Williams expected to sign with another team in free agency. Butler would offer upside along with risk as a starter in the Cowboys offense alongside Bryant and Cole Beasley.

Butler catches 21-yard touchdown in win.

It was a nice catch on a seam route in the 1st quarter. Butler will only be a fantasy option in deep leagues for Week 17 against the Eagles with the hope that the starters don't play a full compliment of snaps.

Brice Butler | Cardinals WR

Butler had two receptions for 49 yards on Sunday in a decisive home victory for the Cowboys against the Baltimore Ravens.

While it is clear Brice Butler is one of the best pure athletes on the team, he is nowhere near any point of fantasy relevance when this team is at full capacity. He did have a spectacular 41 yard catch in the middle of the second quarter that led, ultimately, to a Dallas touchdown. However, Butler is someone the Cowboys should look to develop for now, and someone fantasy owners should keep an eye on for next year.
