Top Ten Tuesday: ‘Star Wars Battlefront II’ Characters

EA’s second version of the reboot of Star Wars Battlefront is out today for those that that pre-ordered it—and it’s available for everyone on Friday. Star Wars Battlefront II will be one of the most popular video games out this holiday season, and it received more publicity when people rightly complained about how hard it is to unlock some of the best characters like Darth Vader, which should only help sales. Though EA getting the most downvoted comment in Reddit history—by far—helped it so the characters are way easier to unlock. Everyone has a preference, but these are some of the best heroes and villains to use in Star Wars Battlefront II.

10. Chewbacca

If you’re looking for someone that’s hard to kill, Chewy is your guy—he’s survived this long in the Star Wars universe for a reason. He doesn’t have the best weapons, though, so you’ll have to be careful coming face-to-face with a villain wielding a lightsaber on the open battlefield.

9. Leia Organa

Princess Leia was the only woman in 2015’s Star Wars Battlefront, but she was one of the game’s best characters. The squad shield is back, and it’s a major plus to give your teammates—and yourself—protection from the likes of Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine. With a couple of guns and the ability to throw grenades, Leia can do some damage, too.

8. Kylo Ren

Almost a sprier but not as powerful version of Darth Vader, Kylo Ren looks like he’ll be tough to stop for the heroes in Battlefront II. The emotional First Order affiliate literally has the ability to make opponents in front of him freeze—from there, he can go on a flurry of attacks.

7. Emperor Palpatine

There isn’t a creepier character than old Emperor Palpatine, as his slow walk along with his quotes when he squares off with a hero makes you think of Return of the Jedi. “Dark Aura” is a new ability for Palpatine in Battlefront II, and it basically allows him to destroy weaker opponents.

6. Rey

Rey is a new fan favorite because of the current Star Wars movie trilogy, and she’ll no doubt be a favorite in Star Wars Battlefront II. Like Luke, Rey is extremely agile and can slice through opponents while moving through the terrain. Her “Insight” ability allows Rey and her teammates to see their enemies behind walls and around corners.

5. Darth Maul

For some, new addition Darth Maul might overtake Darth Vader as the best villain to use in the game. As displayed in his battle with Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Phantom Menace, Maul is a very athletic villain that uses his double-saber to fight multiple enemies at once. Darth Maul will be difficult to defend in Battlefront II.

4. Han Solo

With his DL-44 Blaster Pistol, Han Solo can both keep his distance and battle in close range with some of the strongest enemies in Battlefront II. But long range is where you’ll want to do most of your damage, as there’s no doubt Han is a classic sharpshooter—which happens to be the name of one of his abilities in the game, allowing him to rapid fire his blaster and drain some major health from villains.

3. Yoda

As everyone knows, the old and wise Jedi Master Yoda can pack a huge punch in his small frame. The small frame, along with his great speed, also makes him a target that’s not easy to hit for enemies. Yoda can heal himself and his teammates around him, so that’ll be huge when trying to survive during matches.

2. Luke Skywalker

There is no question the last of the Jedi can hold his own against anyone in the game. Luke is basically the hero version of Darth Vader, though with more speed and quickness to go along with his awesome use of the Force.

1. Darth Vader

Was there any doubt? Darth Vader is an unstoppable force, and perhaps the most iconic villain of all time is a thrill to use in Star Wars Battlefront II. He might be the most powerful character in the game, but he reigns it in and is not out of control with it—one of his abilities is “Focused Rage”, which makes him even more of a beast. The best way to play with Vader is to simply walk around like a boss and destroy anything in your path.
