Waiting For ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Will Turn Out To Be A Good Thing

On the first day of the month, gamers were disappointed with news that Red Dead Redemption 2, the highly-anticipated sequel to the 2010 hit, would not be released until October. It was the second time the game has had a major delay, but I think it will end up being a good thing.

As anyone who played Red Dead Redemption (or any Rockstar Games title) knows, it was a huge, in-depth game with tremendous detail. From the mud on the ground to the stars in the sky, Red Dead left literally no stoned unturned, which led to one of the greatest video games of all-time and something that has yet to be replicated on next-gen consoles.

However, the world doesn’t want to wait nowadays, and there was a miniature outrage when another delay was announced by the company. I am not going to complain about Rockstar Games not taking a shortcut to perfection, though. In Red Dead 2, we will get a vast, multiplayer world where gamers can basically live out their wild west fantasy similar to a character in HBO’s Westworld right from the comfort of their home.

As Rockstar Games said in their press release, they “require a little extra time for polish.” They also gave a set release date—October 26, 2018. And if the screenshots are any indication, the wait will be worth them polishing a game that’s already breathtaking.

Plus, we can be sure that unlike many new games, Red Dead Redemption 2 won’t be overly dependent on microtransactions that create “pay-for-play” winners, and hopefully gamers will be able to excel not only as a team, but also as an individual.

Imagine forming a notorious criminal gang with friends similar to Jesse James, rolling solo and acting as an honorable hero, or being anything in between. Another delay will only build anticipation for Red Dead Redemption 2, which should have a smooth release with plenty of time to prepare.

It will also give us perhaps the most iconic video game of this generation.
